Milagros Luna, Milagros

Speaking to Milagros about her recent single "Pendejos" and everything that comes with it such as her music and about herself. She was able to answer a few questions. This week's feature is Milagros, @iammilagrosmusic

When asked about her music and how and recent single she mentioned

"music has always been part of my world" in her case when wasn't she around music due to her explanation "my father is a song writer so the house was always filled with music at home." That must certainly be an experience which can lead to her interest and her pursuit as she laughed saying to a music career to which she says "growing up i started writing and more professionally in high school" as she explains it as "monkey see monkey do" just like her dad. As she started her pursuit into her career how did she begin besides creating music at an early age and she mentions "Interning for the Sony Music Divisions I was able to learn the foundation and learning about the music industry expanding my knowledge. I never stopped learning."

With how she structures her songs she wants to find a way to "tell my stories to people and have them connect with it" and just enjoying the feedback she receives "this is great! just what I needed today!" as she'll get in her messages. Telling a story through can be done and even throughout albums, but for some individuals they may also relate to that song even if it may or not be intentional. If you listen to "Pendejos" you can hear the story being said it is certainly there. Especially with the beat, the sounds, and the vocals it completes it.

From her time being in the valley she is able to express her love of the culture and mixture of it all being "beautiful." To which she express "which is in my work as as well as in my style. With having listened to so many genres it made me who I am and I try to marry that Idea." I found that interesting in "marrying the idea" due to reason of having an understanding of what you enjoy and knowing how you are with your work as an individual.

She goes on by saying "the valley marries culture beautifully" especially with our sounds as in her single she has R&B with mariachi trumpets and "sprinkles of what makes me ME."

Speaking on how she created her song she explains by saying it goes "single by single" then "the attempt of the sound" as she speaks about her recent single "Pendejos" to "seek out a base." As she explains hers "an urban beat or an R&B base" and she kinda went the "opposite direction" and it reminded of "mariachi songs which can be sad with the high pitch viola portraying sad beautiful songs." She decided on no "electronic bases" and decided on "mariachi with R&B with my hopes of people turning up to it." Which the sound is great! Certainly sounds like you can "turn up to it" but there is a sad story to be had in it as well which makes it more "beautiful." Re listening to it after being hooked on the instrumental and keeping an open ear to the lyrics there certainly is something to this song. I feel like the mariachi and the vocals do it for me for sure. I can't imagine it without the addition of the mariachi now.

When asked about if she could pick any favorite songs created she said "it is hard to pick favorite because they are my babies. Due to the process of it all. You try and sometimes it works out and a song is a born. It's a personal process for me. It's like a puzzle. You are building on your own since there is no reference to it. Every song has its own thing. 'Pendejos' is very magical with numerous directions. It guided me along and in my entire career I finished this song in one sitting."

Due to her music having a story and hoping to have a sense of connectivity with as people can certainly have with any sort of media she goes on to say " a SINGLE person can have different views and experiences. It makes A PERSON interesting and it make you whole. Such as my project and telling a story. It is not too complicated and all the bodies are different but experiencing it all comes together. It is okay to feel sad. It is okay to be madly in love. It is okay to want to party after working too hard. I hope you can reflect with yourself because we are all different and its okay. The highs and lows make life awesome." When it comes to the experiences had such as her single and the topic of the song. We may not connect to it fully due to the experiences had but we can understand to a certain extent and still feel what is being said. In her song she says right after that trumpet at 1:18 "quisiera regresar en una maquina" like I felt that with an experience I had years ago where I knew I should have left, but it just got worse. Even if we cant relate fully to the message of the song we can understand or connect experience to something.

With the creation of this project and the individuals she worked with she says "interestingly enough it was all women. It's been wonderful knowing the talent of women in the valley. From Ana Perez with her Artistic Design and Audrey Barrera on all the videos. More projects coming up adjacent to this EP with more people of The Valley! Wonderful professional talent from home. A project mostly made by women in the valley." That's just amazing to hear! May her next project be filled with great individuals! We shall she what is in store for us!

The shares her final comment being,

"The valley is home.

I hope i did some justice to the valley with the sounds in the project

from cumbias to mariachi as it all flourishing beautifully."
