How would you describe your art style?
"Currently, I draw inspiration from a diverse array of designers and artists such as Vakho Jappari, Ppanik, and Refik Anadol. Additionally, I am heavily influenced by genres like new media, retro-futurism, and acid graphics. In my free time, I enjoy exploring design theory, computational design, and art history to fuel my creativity. My current work focuses on abstract and generative designs that incorporate 3D shapes, generative typography, and vintage retro compositing."
Could you describe what extended reality is? What is about extended reality that interests you? "Extended reality (XR) is an umbrella term that encompasses virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). AR is a technology that overlays digital information onto the real world, while VR creates a completely immersive digital environment. What interests me about XR is its potential to create interactive experiences that can engage audiences."
You have a collaborative show coming up, but how did this come about? What can we expect from this collaborative show? "The collaborative show that Michael Flanagan and I have created explores the possibilities of extended reality (XR), which includes both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences. We are excited to share our work with the audience and showcase how technology can be used to create immersive and interactive art experiences. Our show includes a range of media, such as 3D design, film, motion graphics, and sound design, all of which come together to create a unique and engaging experience for the viewer. Our goal is to explore the potential of XR and encourage others to experiment with this technology."
When it comes to "experimental media" what is "experimental" in your experience? What keeps you to keep it "experimental"?
"In my experience, 'experimental media' refers to the use of non-traditional techniques and technologies to create art. This can include both digital and analog methods, as well as combinations of the two. What keeps me interested in experimental media is the endless possibilities for exploration. I am constantly discovering new ways to express my ideas. Whether I'm working with 3D software or experimenting with tools such as film, projection mapping, artificial intelligence, and extended reality I am always looking for ways to push the boundaries and challenge myself creatively." As he continues by adding in "collaborations can also be experimental, especially when working with artists from different backgrounds and disciplines. Collaborations can provide a unique opportunity to explore new ideas, techniques, and mediums, and can often lead to unexpected and exciting results. By combining the skills and perspectives of multiple artists, collaborations can break down traditional boundaries and push the limits of what is possible in art. In my experience, collaborations have been a valuable source of inspiration and growth, and I always look forward to the opportunity to work with other creatives."
Is there a software you like to use? I've used Blender before, but is there also anything else you'd recommend to someone interested in trying this medium of art "For the development of this upcoming exhibition, I have been exploring a range of software tools to create my work. My go-to software for 3D design and animation is Blender 3D, while Adobe Creative Suite is my preferred suite of tools for digital art and design. In addition, I have recently started using Unreal Engine's VR platform, 8th Wall's XR development platform, and Meta Spark AR. I highly recommend Blender for 3D design and animation, as it is a free and open-source software that is accessible to everyone. Adobe Creative Suite is also an essential tool for many digital artists and designers. For those interested in exploring VR, XR, or AR development platforms, Unreal Engine, 8th Wall, and Meta Spark AR are all great options that allow for a wide range of possibilities in terms of creating immersive and interactive experiences."

With the show this coming week being "augmented reality" and a "virtual exhibition" at the mcallen incubator. How will this be done? Could you describe it to us? "For the 'augmented reality' component of the exhibition, we will be using Meta Spark AR, which is accessible through Instagram or Facebook. Visitors can simply scan designated QR codes then images to access the AR elements, which will be displayed on their smartphones or tablets. Additionally, there will be web based alternative platform. As For the 'virtual exhibition' component, visitors will need to sign up for a 2 to 3-minute VR experience, which was produced by Michael Flanagan. This immersive experience will feature a combination of film and sound and will be accessible through a VR headset. In addition, we will also have some film clips running on a projector for visitors to enjoy. Overall, the exhibition will offer a blend of physical and digital elements, with the AR and VR components providing an immersive and interactive experience for visitors."

Any final comments you'd like to add?
"I encourage everyone who is curious about exploring new forms of media to take risks and experiment. Art is all about pushing boundaries and challenging conventions, and it is through experimentation that new ideas and forms can emerge. I would also like to touch upon the impact of AI on the landscape of media arts. While it presents certain challenges and disagreements, I believe that by embracing new technologies and exploring their potential, we can create groundbreaking and innovative works that will continue to shape the future of art."
